Director, Business Development - Chicago, IL

The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and running a team that works closely with sales team to drive the growth of Episerver products from new and existing accounts. The focus will be on maximizing lead qualification and conversation rates while mentoring the global team of 15+ to ensure they are hitting and excelling key performance metrics. The successful candidate must be able to clearly understand and articulate Episerver’s offering. As part of the marketing organization, the Director of Business Development will ensure that the BDR team consistently follows up on inbound inquiries and develop effective outbound strategies focused on companies indicating intent. Good business judgment and skills will be crucial, as this position will require interaction with prospective customers and senior level management throughout the organization. 

The Role

Your remit will cover:

  • Manage a global team of Business Development Representatives including, hiring, training and development, performance management and reviews, etc.
  • Responsible for successfully leading a team to goal achievement revenue targets
  • Participates as a team member in strategic and tactical planning for the organization
  • Implements and maintains sales best practices work with sales leaders around the globe
  • of rules of engagement as well as policies, procedures and programs
  • Manages performance metrics and creates leadership boards for team members
  • Drives high activity standards and pipeline management
  • Develops, maintains monthly, quarterly team forecasts and reporting as well as managing team goals
  • Suggests improvement to optimize lead qualification process and outbound prospecting

Your role in the Team: 

Your responsibilities require in-depth understanding of the Episerver’s offering and the market. You will be responsible for arming the sales team with a growing pipeline of opportunities. You will need to have a deep understanding of the funnel and develop and maintain a strong collaboration and partnership with the Sales Leaders, as well as your peers within Marketing.

Essential Requirements

  • 5-8 years of management experience of business development working closely with a sales and marketing team with software
  • Strong working knowledge of sales processes and CRM
  • Results oriented, driven professional with a high level of energy that resonates to team members around the globe
  • A natural leader and the ability to mentor, trine, and provide actionable feedback to team members
  • Excellent business judgment
  • Experience interacting with potential clients on the telephone and over email to qualify leads and pinpoint sales opportunities
  • Analytical and heavy driven by metrics with the ability to develop reports to share with executives and leaders
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Ability to travel 15%
